Channel 4 Chief Content Officer Ian Katz Stepping Down After 9 Years

Ian Katz, the long-standing chief content officer of Channel 4, has announced his departure from the position after nearly nine years. Katz will be stepping down from his role in October, leaving behind a legacy of significant achievements.

Under his leadership, the percentage of viewers engaging with Channel 4’s streaming platform increased from 20% to 50%. Some of the standout projects overseen by Katz during his tenure include Russell T Davies’ groundbreaking drama “It’s a Sin,” James Graham’s “Brexit: The Uncivil War,” Jack Thorne’s COVID-themed drama “Help,” and successful comedies like “Big Boys,” “We Are Lady Parts,” and “Mitchell & Webb Are Not Helping.” Katz’s influence can also be seen in Channel 4’s upcoming drama slate, which features Davies’ latest series “Tip Toe” starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey.

In a statement, Channel 4 CEO Priya Dogra praised Katz for his outstanding leadership and creative vision, highlighting his role in driving a period of creative renewal at the network. Dogra expressed her appreciation for Katz’s contributions and confirmed that he will continue to be involved in the channel’s creative output and commissioning decisions until his departure.
