Dungeons and Dragons Launches Official Actual-Play Show

Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast is diving back into the world of Dungeons & Dragons with the launch of a new actual-play TV series titled “Dungeon Masters.” The show will feature Jasmine Bhullar as the Dungeon Master, along with players Mayanna Berrin, Christian Navarro, Neil Newbon, and Devora Wilde.

Set to premiere on YouTube on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. PT, “Dungeon Masters” aims to appeal to a wide audience of D&D veterans, newcomers, and everyone in between. The show will follow the format of an actual play, where the players engage in a tabletop roleplaying game, similar to popular web series like “Critical Role” and “Dimension 20.”

The first two episodes of “Dungeon Masters” will showcase official, unreleased D&D content, which will be available to play on the online platform D&D Beyond following each episode. The show’s initial storyline will tie in with Wizards’ newly announced campaign product “Ravenloft: The Horrors Within,” set to release on June 16.

The cast members have hinted at their characters’ motivations for the upcoming campaign. Berrin will be playing a grave domain cleric with an eerie backstory, while Wilde will take on the role of a hexblood shadow sorcerer elf with hidden secrets. Newbon expressed his excitement about the nostalgia of the characters in the campaign.

“Dungeon Masters” will feature an original score by Grammy-nominated composer David Arkenstone and a state-of-the-art set, including a dice cam. Wizards of the Coast is hopeful that the show will inspire more adventure among players and expand the D&D fandom.

According to Dan Ayoub, senior vice president and head of Dungeons & Dragons at Wizards of the Coast, “Dungeon Masters” is a love letter to the actual play shows that have introduced many to D&D. The show aims to capture the tension, drama, and unpredictability of actual play while incorporating official source material to enhance the experience.

With a talented cast, intriguing characters, and a captivating storyline, “Dungeon Masters” is poised to make a mark in the world of actual-play TV series. Fans can look forward to weekly episodes that promise mystery, suspense, and gothic horror within the dark and atmospheric world of Ravenloft.
