Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax kills wife, self in their home: Police

Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax tragically took the life of his wife, Cerina, before ending his own life in their home, as confirmed by the police on Thursday.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis disclosed that the incident stemmed from an “ongoing domestic dispute surrounding a complicated, messy divorce.” The police had previously been called to the couple’s Annandale, Virginia, residence in January for a domestic incident, but no charges were filed at that time. Despite being separated, Justin and Cerina were still residing together in the same house.

According to Davis, the fatal shooting occurred around midnight, with the couple’s two teenage children present in the home. The eldest child, their son, bravely dialed 911 following the tragic event. Davis expressed empathy for the children, acknowledging the trauma they must endure.

Justin Fairfax had served as Virginia’s lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022. The news of this heartbreaking event has shocked the community and left many in disbelief.
