Netflix executive Jinny Howe, who recently took on the role of head of U.S. and Canada scripted series, has been announced as the first confirmed keynote speaker for this year’s Banff World Media Festival. The festival, now in its 47th year, will take place from June 14 to June 17 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada.

Her work exemplifies creativity, innovation, and a global perspective, all of which are central to the spirit of this festival. We are excited for attendees to hear her insights firsthand.”
Howe joined Netflix in 2018 and previously held the position of vice president of drama series. Under her guidance, Netflix has launched successful series such as “Bridgerton,” “Maid,” and “Indenting Anna,” among others. Her upcoming projects include “Little House on the Prairie,” “The Altruists,” and “The Hawk.”
Prior to her time at Netflix, Howe spent 13 years at John Wells Television, where she worked on acclaimed series like “Shameless,” “Southland,” and “Animal Kingdom.”

Spain has been designated as this year’s Banff “Country of Honour.” Additionally, the Banff World Media Festival has announced the nominees for the 2026 Rockie Awards International Program Competition, which will be held concurrently with the Banff Gala Awards on June 16.
