Boy killed inside NYC bodega during clash with another teen
A tragic incident unfolded at a Brooklyn bodega on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy named Marquise Byfield. The shooting took place at Livonia Deli & Grocery located at 909 Livonia Ave. in New Lots, where Byfield sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his torso and groin around 4:15 p.m. Despite the authorities’ swift response and attempts to save him, Byfield succumbed to his injuries at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.
According to the store’s manager, Karrar Obaid, Byfield was engaged in a deadly altercation with another teen inside the bodega. The altercation escalated, leading to the fatal shooting that shocked everyone present at the scene. Obaid recounted the harrowing experience, stating that the two teens entered the store and immediately began fighting, eventually culminating in gunfire. The aftermath of the incident left a grisly scene with bloodstains scattered across the store.
The tragic incident involving Byfield is just one of many within the 75th precinct, where a total of 15 shootings have occurred since the beginning of the year up to April 19, as per NYPD data. This alarming statistic reflects a 36% increase in shootings compared to the same period last year, underscoring the prevalence of gun violence in the area.
As of Saturday morning, the suspect responsible for Byfield’s death, believed to be around 15 or 16 years old, remains at large according to the police. The ongoing investigation has yet to yield any public identification of the suspect, leaving the community and Byfield’s loved ones seeking justice for the senseless tragedy that has befallen them.
The devastating loss of a young life like Marquise Byfield serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address and combat the pervasive issue of gun violence in our communities. The search for the perpetrator and the pursuit of justice for Byfield’s untimely death continue as the authorities work tirelessly to bring closure to this heartbreaking chapter. The sun was shining brightly over the small town of Willow Creek, casting a warm glow over the picturesque landscape. The streets were bustling with activity as the townspeople went about their daily routines, greeting each other with friendly smiles and waves.

I decided to stop at a quaint little café for a cup of coffee, drawn in by the inviting aroma of freshly brewed beans. The café was cozy and charming, with mismatched tables and chairs scattered throughout the space. The walls were adorned with local artwork, adding to the charm of the place.
I ordered a latte and settled into a comfortable corner booth, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling café. The barista was friendly and chatty, striking up a conversation with me as she prepared my drink. She told me about the town’s upcoming festival, which was set to take place in a few weeks.
