Gunman allegedly robbed FedEx driver who skipped his house: ‘An extremely dangerous crime over a minor inconvenience’
FedEx Driver Robbed at Gunpoint Over Missed Delivery
Everyone has experienced the frustration of a missed package delivery, but one Chicago man took matters into his own hands. Dylan Longstreet, 21, stands accused of orchestrating a robbery of a FedEx truck driver after suspecting that his delivery had been skipped.
According to prosecutors, on January 31, Longstreet and three accomplices tracked down the FedEx truck in the 10000 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue. Longstreet allegedly approached the 23-year-old driver, brandishing a firearm and demanding the package that was meant for him. In a bizarre twist, he even provided the driver with his own name and address that should have been on the package.
Once inside the truck, Longstreet and his cohorts not only retrieved the intended package but also stole 10 additional packages. The robbery escalated when Longstreet demanded the driver’s phone and wallet before fleeing the scene. Surveillance cameras on the truck captured the entire incident, providing crucial evidence for the case.
Upon arresting Longstreet, authorities discovered a loaded firearm in his possession. While he had a valid firearm owner’s identification card, Longstreet did not have a concealed carry license. He now faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery in a public place, and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle.
Initially detained by Judge James Costello, who deemed the crime “an extremely dangerous act over a minor inconvenience,” Longstreet was later released on electronic monitoring by Judge Laura Ayala-Gonzalez.
