Son Suk-ku, Ha Jung-woo Set Yoon Jong-bin Netflix Film ‘The Generals’

Netflix is embarking on a new venture with the production of “The Generals” (working title), a Korean political drama helmed by director Yoon Jong-bin. This upcoming series features Son Suk-ku and Ha Jung-woo portraying the roles of real-life historical figures Roh Tae-woo and Chun Doo-hwan.

Yoon Jong-bin, known for his work on “The Spy Gone North” in 2018, is making a return to the director’s chair for this project. Collaborating once again with Netflix following the success of “Narco-Saints,” this series is highly anticipated by fans of Korean dramas. Ha Jung-woo, a standout in “Narco-Saints,” reunites with the director for this latest venture.

“The Generals” delves into the intricate political landscape of South Korea, focusing on Roh Tae-woo’s journey from a seemingly ordinary man to a powerful figure working alongside Chun Doo-hwan. The narrative explores Roh’s ambition to rise to the top position, shedding light on the alliances, rivalries, and strategic moves that shape his ascent.

The cast of “The Generals” is led by Son Suk-ku, recognized for his performances in “D.P.” and “A Killer Paradox,” portraying the role of Roh Tae-woo. Ha Jung-woo, a familiar face in Yoon’s films, takes on the character of Chun Doo-hwan, Roh’s former classmate turned authoritarian leader. Ji Chang-wook, known for his recent role in “The Worst of Evil,” embodies the character of Heo Hak-seong, a key figure in Roh’s journey.
