An appalling incident occurred in Brooklyn on Friday, where an antisemitic man wearing a shirt with the flag of Iran on it assaulted three Jewish men. The attacker, identified as Andrzej Wnuk, 41, reportedly attacked the victims in the area of Throop Avenue and Gerry Street in Williamsburg around 6:45 p.m.
The victims of this heinous attack were a 48-year-old, 38-year-old, and 21-year-old, all of whom were Jewish. Wnuk allegedly punched one man in the back, another in the shoulder, and a third in the side of the head while shouting derogatory remarks towards Jews.
Despite experiencing pain in their faces, all three victims declined medical attention following the assault. Video footage captured the aftermath of the attack, showing police detaining Wnuk, who was wearing a black T-shirt with the Iranian flag displayed prominently.
Following his arrest, Wnuk was brought before Brooklyn Criminal Court and remanded with bail set at $5,000 cash. He is facing charges of hate crime assault, among other offenses. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 30.
As of now, Wnuk’s attorney has not issued a statement regarding the incident. The disturbing nature of this attack serves as a reminder of the continued presence of antisemitism and the importance of standing against such hatred in our communities.
