The Wall Street Journal reported on this potential development, although Amazon has declined to comment on the matter, stating that the show is not currently in active development.

According to Variety, insiders have also confirmed that there have been no discussions with external parties about producing a reboot of “The Apprentice.” However, if the show does get the green light, it would be the latest effort by Amazon to spotlight the Trump family. In January, Amazon released a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump, titled “Melania,” which received mixed reviews but managed to break records for best opening for a non-fiction feature in the last decade.

Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins and other executives at Amazon are reportedly spearheading the potential revival of “The Apprentice.” Discussions about the reboot began internally early last year, around the time of Trump’s second presidential inauguration.

“The Apprentice” originally aired from 2004 to 2015 and followed aspiring entrepreneurs competing in various business challenges. In a 2024 interview with Variety, Trump revealed that he had suggested his daughter, Ivanka Trump, as his replacement on the show after he left to run for president. He believed that Ivanka would have been the best choice to host “The Apprentice.”
