‘Brilliant Minds’ and ‘Stumble’ Canceled at NBC
NBC has made the decision to cancel two of its shows, “Brilliant Minds” and “Stumble.” “Brilliant Minds” was a medical drama based on the books by Oliver Sacks, following neurology physician Oliver Wolf and his team at Bronx General as they tackle medical mysteries of the mind. The show starred Zachary Quinto and ran for two seasons before being pulled off the schedule due to a drop in viewership. The remaining six episodes of Season 2 will return on May 27.
The cast of “Brilliant Minds” also included Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, and Teddy Sears. The series was created by Michael Grassi and executive produced by Greg Berlanti and others. On the other hand, “Stumble” was a mockumentary comedy set in the world of junior college cheerleading. The show followed a cheerleading coach who was fired and ended up coaching at a junior college in Oklahoma. Despite positive reviews, the show failed to attract a large audience and was canceled after one season.
The cast of “Stumble” featured Jenn Lyon, Taran Killam, and Kristin Chenoweth in a recurring role. The show was created by Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof, with Jeff Blitz directing multiple episodes. With these cancellations, NBC is now awaiting word on the fate of other shows like “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” and “The Hunting Party.”
Meanwhile, NBC has ordered several pilots for the upcoming broadcast season, including a reboot of “The Rockford Files” starring David Boreanaz and a PI comedy from Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici. These pilots are considered strong contenders for series orders, along with other procedural and comedy pilots in consideration. NBC is gearing up for a potentially exciting lineup for the 2026-2027 season.
