Pope blesses Serie A champion Inter Milan and reminds them to be responsible ‘heroes’

VATICAN CITY — Inter Milan, the newly crowned Serie A champion, was blessed by Pope Leo XIV on Saturday.

The team, along with their players, staff, and directors, had a private audience with Leo at the Vatican before their match against Lazio in Rome later that day.

Last Sunday, Inter secured the Italian title with a 2-0 win over Parma, with three rounds remaining.

Leo expressed his joy for the team’s success and encouraged them to reflect on their experience and be positive role models for young people.

The players were reminded of the impact they have on the lives of young fans and the responsibility that comes with being seen as heroes.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta presented Leo with a personalized Inter shirt with the number 10 and the name LEONE XIV.
