Utz potato chips sold nationwide recalled over salmonella risk

Utz Quality Foods has issued a recall for certain Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips due to potential salmonella contamination from an ingredient used in the seasoning. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a recall notice on May 4, stating that the dry milk powder in the seasoning could potentially contain the harmful organism. Salmonella is known to cause severe infections in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Although there have been no reported cases of illness associated with the affected products, Utz is taking precautionary measures by recalling the chips due to a recall issued by its ingredient supplier. Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled potato chips and to discard any remaining products they may have in their possession. For any inquiries or concerns, customers can contact Utz at 1-877-423-0149 during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm ET.

The recalled potato chips include various varieties sold under the Zapp’s and Dirty brands. The table below provides a detailed list of the affected products:

It is crucial for consumers to check their pantry and dispose of any of the recalled potato chips to prevent any potential health risks. Utz is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its customers and is working diligently to address the issue promptly.
