Security Guard Hailed as Hero in San Diego Mosque Shooting

Amin Abdullah, the security guard who tragically lost his life in a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, is being remembered as a hero whose actions saved lives, according to police reports.

The incident took place at the largest mosque in San Diego County, where Abdullah’s quick thinking and bravery are said to have prevented further casualties. Police responded to reports of active gunfire near the mosque, and it was later revealed that the victims were found in front of the Islamic Center.

San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl commended Abdullah’s actions, stating, “His heroic efforts undoubtedly saved lives today.” Witnesses also spoke highly of Abdullah’s character, emphasizing his willingness to help others in any situation.

Tragically, both suspects involved in the shooting, aged 17 and 18, died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The incident is currently being investigated as a hate crime, with authorities uncovering anti-Islamic writings in the suspects’ vehicle.

Taha Hassan, director of the Islamic Center of San Diego, expressed shock and solidarity with the community in the wake of the tragedy. Tazheen Nizam of the Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned the violence, stating that no one should feel unsafe while attending religious services.
