Rhode Island beach chaos leads to three stabbed, 11 arrested

Three beachgoers were injured in separate stabbing incidents at Narragansett Town Beach in Rhode Island on a hot summer day. The chaos unfolded as temperatures soared and hundreds of teens flocked to the popular beach.

According to Narragansett Police Chief Kyle Rekas, the stabbings occurred around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, with three victims sustaining minor injuries. The motive behind the attacks remains unknown, and it is unclear if the victims were targeted or if the stabbings were random.

First responders quickly attended to the wounded individuals before transporting them to local hospitals for treatment. The violent incident caused panic among the beachgoers, leading to several small disturbances as people rushed to evacuate the area.

Amidst the chaos, two adults were arrested for various offenses, including simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice. However, they are not believed to be connected to the stabbings.

Meanwhile, in Middletown, RI, approximately 1,200 teens swarmed Second Beach on Sachuest Bay, creating a disturbance that escalated when one individual began harassing a large group. Police intervened, but a second man assaulted the officers, prompting the crowd to become unruly.

Law enforcement resorted to using pepper spray to disperse the rowdy crowd. Witnesses described the situation as unprecedented for the area, with one individual mentioning a significant amount of blood being present during the altercation.

Several teens, aged between 17 and 19, were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer. One 18-year-old from Massachusetts, Ronan Pinkham, faced additional charges after allegedly striking a police officer with his car while attempting to flee the scene. Pinkham admitted to driving under the influence and was charged with felony assault and DUI.

The incidents at both beaches serve as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and safety measures, especially during peak summer months when large crowds gather at popular tourist destinations.
