Morris Love (Chicago Police Department)

Convicted Felon Arrested for Sexual Assault on CTA Bus

In a shocking incident on the Near West Side, witnesses stepped in to stop a convicted felon from attacking and sexually abusing a woman on a CTA bus. Morris Love, 36, is set to appear for a detention hearing on Sunday in connection with the case.

The incident took place just before 6 p.m. on Thursday when a 35-year-old woman was riding the bus in the 1700 block of West Roosevelt Road. Love sat next to her, causing her discomfort. When she tried to move away, Love grabbed her, held her down, and sexually abused her on the bus. Fortunately, other passengers intervened and freed the woman from Love’s grasp.

After the woman got off the bus, Love followed her, stole her belongings, and attempted to grab her once again. Thanks to the quick actions of witnesses, the woman was able to escape. The attacker was later located by patrol officers based on descriptions provided by witnesses. CTA surveillance footage and statements from the victim and witnesses were crucial in the investigation.

Love is facing charges of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery of a transit passenger, robbery, and aggravated unlawful restraint. Records show that he was previously sentenced to four years in 2024 for a robbery and battery on the CTA, as well as three years in 2022 for assaulting a peace officer.
