Rio2C to Host Meeting of Ibero-American Vice Ministers of Culture
The Ibero-American Forum of Deputy Ministers of Culture will be holding its sixth meeting during the Rio2C event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This forum brings together top officials from 17 member countries to discuss and develop cultural policies aimed at strengthening the creative economy in the region.
Established in 2024, the Forum is a regional executive work group promoted by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science, and Culture (OEI). The main objective of the Forum is to collaborate on cultural policies that support the creative economy in all its dimensions.
This year, the Forum will be held during Rio2C for the first time, thanks to the initiative of Brazil’s Ministry of Culture. Rafael Lazarini, the founder of Rio2C, emphasized the importance of hosting the Forum during the event, as it provides a unique opportunity for integration among countries and the production of content.
The meeting will be presided over by Brazil’s Minister of Culture executive secretary, Márcio Tavares, as Brazil currently holds the Forum’s temporary presidency. Tavares highlighted the significance of bringing the Forum’s discussions to the largest creativity gathering in Latin America.
During the meeting, members will discuss the renewal of the Ibero-American Cultural Charter, signed in 2006. Tavares mentioned that the countries are expected to approve a new version of the charter in November. Additionally, Tavares will present Portuguese and Spanish-language courses offered by Brazil’s Ministry of Culture’s virtual school to all Forum country members.
The collaboration between the public policy debate and the creative market is crucial for strengthening the production chains of culture and the creative economy in the region. This convergence between the public and private sectors aims to energize and enhance the creative industry within the Ibero-American region.
