‘I Love LA,’ ‘Pluribus’ and Take Top Honors;

The 2022 Gotham Television Awards were a night to remember as the entertainment industry celebrated outstanding performances and groundbreaking series. Held at the prestigious Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, the event set the stage for the upcoming Emmy Awards in September.

Netflix led the pack with 22 nominations, but it was HBO Max that stole the spotlight with five wins. Netflix took home three trophies, while Hulu also secured multiple prizes. HBO Max’s “DTF St. Louis” was the standout winner, clinching awards for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited or Anthology Series for David Harbour.

Another success story for HBO Max was Rachel Sennott’s comedy “I Love LA,” which won the Breakthrough Comedy Series award. The Breakthrough Drama Series award went to Apple TV’s “Pluribus,” created by Vince Gilligan of “Breaking Bad” fame.

In the acting categories, Tim Robinson won Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy Series for his role in HBO Max’s “The Chair Company,” while Laurie Metcalf took home the supporting comedy award for Netflix’s “Big Mistakes.” Chase Infiniti of “The Testaments” and Babou Cessay of FX’s “Alien: Earth” were honored with lead and supporting performance awards in the drama series category.

Michael Shannon’s portrayal of President James A. Garfield in Netflix’s historical drama “Death by Lightning” earned him the lead actor award in the limited series or anthology category.

The evening also saw recognition for outstanding nonfiction series and original films. “Katrina: Come Hell and High Water” was awarded the Breakthrough Nonfiction Series prize, while “Reflection in a Dead Diamond” took home the Outstanding Original Film award.

The Gotham Television Awards showcased the best of the small screen, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting awards season leading up to the Emmys. Congratulations to all the winners for their exceptional work and contributions to the world of television.
