The Lion Throne’ Vertical Documentary Series Set at FlareFlow

FlareFlow, a platform under COL Group, has partnered with Bomanbridge Media from Singapore to produce one of the first premium vertical-format documentary series. Set to debut in late Q3 of 2026, the wildlife title, “Mapogo: The Lion Throne,” was unveiled at Owl&Co’s Vertical Media Summit in Los Angeles. This series was filmed over several years in South Africa’s Sabi Sands Game Reserve and follows the rise and fall of the Mapogo Lion Coalition, a pride known for their dominance and ruthless behavior in the wild.

The narration for “Mapogo” will be done by microdrama performer Sam Myerson, who gained popularity with his role in “Oops, I Married My Bestie’s Brother.” Myerson expressed his excitement for the project, stating that the captivating drama and intense storytelling in microdramas are similar to the compelling narrative of the Mapogo lions.

This documentary series is a part of FlareFlow’s Vertical 2.0 initiative, which aims to expand the platform’s content offerings beyond scripted shows to include premium factual programming. With over 5,200 series and 33 million registered users across 200 countries, FlareFlow is looking to engage audiences with diverse content in multiple languages.

Timothy Oh, the general manager of international business at COL Group and chief marketing officer of FlareFlow, highlighted the emotional depth and storytelling elements in “Mapogo: The Lion Throne,” which resonates with the platform’s audience. The collaboration with Bomanbridge Media, known for its extensive catalogue of factual and wildlife content, further enhances the production quality of the series.

Bomanbridge Media, with its focus on evolving factual storytelling in response to changing viewer habits and technology, sees the partnership with FlareFlow as a step towards engaging mobile-native audiences. The company’s recent acquisitions and partnerships in the natural history genre demonstrate their commitment to delivering high-quality content to global viewers.

As a pioneer in the microdrama sector in both China and the U.S., COL Group continues to innovate and explore new formats for storytelling. Their collaboration with Bomanbridge Media on “Mapogo: The Lion Throne” showcases their dedication to offering unique and compelling content to a global audience.

Overall, the partnership between FlareFlow and Bomanbridge Media signifies a new era in documentary storytelling, blending traditional wildlife narratives with modern mobile viewing experiences. “Mapogo: The Lion Throne” is poised to captivate audiences worldwide with its gripping tale of power, betrayal, and survival in the wild.
