Graham Platner admits to sexting women ‘soon’ after getting married, blasts ‘politically motivated’ allegations he manhandled ex-girlfriend
Embattled Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner made a stunning admission in a recent interview, revealing that he engaged in sexting with multiple women shortly after marrying his wife, Amy Gertner. Despite this revelation, Platner adamantly denied allegations of abuse made by an ex-girlfriend, dismissing them as politically motivated.
During his appearance on MS Now’s “All in with Chris Hayes,” Platner acknowledged his past mistakes, stating that the sexting incidents occurred early in his marriage but ceased once he and his wife addressed the issue. The former oyster farmer and Marine veteran asserted that the behavior was a thing of the past.
However, Platner faced further scrutiny when the New York Times published accounts from his ex-girlfriends, who described him as someone who harbored a deep-seated hatred towards women and exhibited abusive behavior. One ex-girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, alleged that Platner had physically assaulted her during an argument, an accusation that Platner vehemently denied.
In response to Fifield’s claims, Platner maintained his innocence, stating that the allegations of physical violence and disrespect towards women were unfounded and politically motivated. He dismissed the accusations as falsehoods aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
As Platner vies to unseat longtime Republican incumbent Sen. Susan Collins in the upcoming election, these allegations threaten to derail his campaign. Despite facing criticism and controversy, Platner remains confident in his ability to secure the Democratic nomination and ultimately defeat Collins in the general election.
With a comfortable lead in the polls, Platner continues to campaign vigorously, hoping to overcome the negative publicity and emerge victorious in his bid for the Senate seat. As the election date draws near, all eyes are on Platner as he navigates the challenges and obstacles that come with seeking public office.
