Actor James Handy Killed in Stabbing Incident
James Handy, a beloved actor known for his roles in films such as “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jumanji,” was tragically killed in a stabbing incident in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles. The 81-year-old actor was found unconscious with a stab wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The LAPD revealed that Handy was killed by his girlfriend’s son, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill.
The incident took place on June 3, 2026, when officers responded to a call of unknown trouble. Gledhill, who resides with his mother and Handy, surrendered himself to the police stating, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
Gledhill was arrested and booked for murder with a bail set at $2 million. A representative for Handy confirmed his passing with great sadness.
Born in New York, Handy had a long and successful career in both film and television. He appeared in movies such as “Logan,” “Jumanji,” and “Arachnophobia,” showcasing his versatility as an actor. On television, Handy had recurring roles in popular shows like “Alias,” “Melrose Place,” and “NYPD Blue.”
