Second Facebook privacy settlement payment is coming soon. Here’s what to know.

Facebook users who were part of the $725 million privacy settlement with Meta may soon receive a second payout, according to the claims administrator and an email sent to eligible claimants. This payout is a result of a settlement reached in multiple lawsuits against Facebook, where users alleged that the social media platform improperly shared their information with third-party sources, such as advertisers and data brokers. The lawsuits were initiated following Facebook’s 2018 privacy scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, which harvested user data from the site for voter profiling purposes.

Meta has maintained that they do not admit any liability or wrongdoing under the terms of the settlement. The initial settlement payments were dispersed to Facebook users in September 2025, with the average payout amounting to $29.43. Factors considered in determining the payment amount included the duration of a user’s use of Facebook during the 15-year period covered by the settlement and the number of individuals who filed claims.

The reason for the second payment is that there were funds left over from the first round of payouts due to unclaimed payments. These leftover funds have been returned to the settlement administrator and are now being redistributed to claimants who successfully cashed their original payment.

Eligible recipients of the second payment will be notified via email by the claims administrator. The subject line of the email will read: “Facebook User Privacy Settlement – Settlement and Second Distribution Status Update.” If users are uncertain about whether they qualify for the second payment, they can reach out to the settlement administrator at info@facebookuserprivacysettlement.com, remembering to include their claim ID.

The distribution of the second payments is set to commence on June 9 and will continue for four weeks. Recipients will receive an additional email notification approximately 3-4 days before the issuance of their second settlement payment. While the exact amount of the second payment is not disclosed on the settlement website, it is expected to be smaller than the initial $29.43 payment as it is based on unclaimed funds from the first round.

In conclusion, Facebook users involved in the privacy settlement with Meta can expect a second payout soon. The process is being managed by the claims administrator, and recipients will be informed via email about the status of their second payment. The redistribution of funds from the initial round of payouts aims to ensure that all eligible claimants receive their fair share of the settlement amount.
