Teenager Fatally Shot Outside Queens Public Housing Building
An 18-year-old man, Jafre Waugh, tragically lost his life after being shot dead by a group of scooter-riding individuals outside a public housing building in Queens. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at NYCHA’s Woodside Houses.
Waugh was standing in front of his home when four men on scooters approached him and opened fire. He was hit in the chest and back on 49th Street near 31st Avenue in Woodside around 12:15 a.m. Despite the efforts of EMTs who rushed him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, Waugh succumbed to his injuries.

The assailants fled the scene on their scooters and are currently at large as of Sunday afternoon. Law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the incident to apprehend those responsible for the senseless act of violence.

At the crime scene, investigators found five bullet casings, providing crucial evidence that will aid in the ongoing investigation. The NYPD is working diligently to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting and bring justice to Waugh and his grieving loved ones.
