Apple’s Liquid Glass To Have Off Slider in iOS 27
Apple’s 2026 WWDC keynote last night brought some exciting announcements to the table. From enhanced online protections for children to Siri AI advancements, the event was packed with surprises. However, one of the standout moments was Apple’s acknowledgement of the mixed reception to the ‘Liquid Glass’ interface introduced in iOS 27.
The Liquid Glass feature, a semi-transparent design element aimed at giving a sleek and modern look to the interface, has faced criticism from users. Many iPhone owners have reported readability issues with notifications and interface elements due to the blurry and hard-to-decipher presentation.
In response to the feedback, Apple is introducing changes in iOS 27 that will allow users to customize or disable the Liquid Glass effects according to their preferences. Shubham Kedia, Apple’s Director of Human Interface, emphasized the company’s commitment to continuous improvement, stating that they are updating the foundations of how Liquid Glass is built.
Users can expect a slider and additional settings within the Display & Brightness options to adjust the intensity of the Liquid Glass effects. This update aims to provide users with more control over the visual aesthetics of their iPhones, ensuring a comfortable and user-friendly experience.
While the iOS 27 update is set to roll out in September for iPhone 11 and newer models, users can take some interim steps to minimize the impact of Liquid Glass on their devices. By navigating to Accessibility settings and enabling Reduce Transparency, users can tone down the glassy effects. Additionally, changing the Liquid Glass setting in Display & Brightness from Clear to Tinted can improve the legibility of notifications.
The upcoming iPhone 18 lineup will debut alongside the iOS 27 update, offering users a fresh experience with enhanced customization options. Stay tuned for more updates on the iPhone 18 models and the exciting features they will bring to the table.
