Dog the Bounty Hunter‘s son, Garry Chapman, has been recognized with a prestigious law enforcement award, marking a significant achievement following a tumultuous period that included a fatal crash, termination, and subsequent reinstatement.

Garry has been named the 2025 Patrol Officer of the Year by ACE Interdiction for his exceptional work as a “Criminal Apprehension Specialist.” The organization announced the award on social media and will be presenting Garry with a plaque to honor his accomplishments.

Garry’s selection for the award was based on his outstanding performance in 2025, including his high number of arrests and drug seizures. His narcotics seizure statistics were the highest in his county, leading to his well-deserved recognition by ACE Interdiction, which only bestows three awards annually.

Despite facing challenges over the past year, Garry was nominated by his fellow officers, including members of his command staff, highlighting the respect and admiration he has earned within the law enforcement community.

Garry’s father, Dog the Bounty Hunter, expressed his excitement and pride upon hearing about the award, particularly appreciating his son’s title as a “Criminal Apprehension Specialist.”

The award holds special significance for Garry, given his involvement in a high-speed police chase in September 2025 that resulted in a fatal crash, claiming the life of a teenager and injuring several others.

Following the incident, Garry was initially placed on administrative leave and subsequently terminated by the Priceville Police Department. However, after appealing the decision, the city council overturned his firing, replacing it with a 10-day unpaid suspension and allowing him to return to his duties.
