Texas-Based Bank Breached, Affecting 86,067 Customers – Names and Social Security Numbers at Risk

A recent security breach at a US bank has put tens of thousands of Americans’ personal data at risk. Texas Capital Bank disclosed the incident to the Office of the California Attorney General, revealing that sensitive information of its clients was exposed.

According to reports submitted to the Texas Attorney General’s Office, a total of 86,067 individuals have been affected by the hacking incident. The bank has taken steps to notify all impacted individuals through mailed letters.

The breach was discovered on April 27th, with the bank describing it as an “isolated security incident” that exposed names and social security numbers. Texas Capital Bank assured clients that immediate protection measures were implemented upon detection, and there is no evidence of targeted or misused information. The bank’s systems are said to be operating normally and securely, with client accounts remaining safe.

As a gesture of goodwill, the bank is offering two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services from Experian IdentityWorks to impacted clients. Enrollment for these services must be completed by September 30th.

In response to the breach, a class action lawsuit may be filed against Texas Capital Bank on behalf of affected clients. The lawsuit aims to seek compensation for loss of privacy, time spent addressing the breach, and any out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, it may push for further measures to safeguard clients’ information in the future.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas Capital Bank manages assets totaling $33.4 billion. The bank’s commitment to resolving the security incident and providing support to affected clients reflects its dedication to maintaining trust and security.
