Korea’s Showbox Teams With ReelShort to Co-Produce Microdramas
Showbox, the renowned Korean studio known for producing blockbuster films like “Exhuma” and the popular Netflix series “A Killer Paradox,” has recently inked a co-production deal with ReelShort. This collaboration aims to create original microdramas exclusively for ReelShort’s vast user base of over 70 million monthly active users worldwide.
Initially, Showbox will work on developing microdramas based on ReelShort’s existing intellectual properties. However, the partnership is set to evolve into creating original content by Showbox for the platform. The first set of titles to be released under this agreement are “Tell Me Not to Love You,” “My Secret Lover Is His Brother,” and “Queen Never Cry.”
In a statement, Showbox expressed their excitement about the partnership, stating that the combination of ReelShort’s global platform reach and Showbox’s expertise in content development will result in high-quality short-form dramas. They see this collaboration as an opportunity to venture into new genres and formats, ultimately enhancing their content competitiveness in the global market.
Showbox made its foray into the short-form drama space back in December 2025 with productions like “Bridal Shower: The Missing Bride” and “The Fallen Idol Is Possessed!” The collaboration with ReelShort signifies a significant leap forward in Showbox’s ambitions within this format.
ReelShort, founded in 2022 by Crazy Maple Studio, operates in over 100 countries worldwide. Showbox, on the other hand, boasts an impressive theatrical track record with hits like “Assassination” (2015), “A Taxi Driver” (2017), and “Exhuma” (2024). Their recent release, “The King’s Warden” in 2026, has further solidified their standing in the industry. Additionally, Showbox has also formed strategic partnerships, including one with M Studio, a prominent film production and distribution company in Thailand.
This collaboration between Showbox and ReelShort holds promise for delivering compelling and engaging short-form dramas to audiences globally. With their combined expertise and resources, they are poised to create new success stories in the ever-evolving landscape of content creation.
