Trump threatens Iran with annihilation; Kuwait, Bahrain report attacks

President Donald Trump once again issued a warning to Iran on Sunday, threatening destruction following U.S. military strikes on Iranian military targets in retaliation for Tehran’s recent attacks on shipping in the highly strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Reports from Iran’s neighbors, Kuwait and Bahrain, indicated incoming missiles and drones during the night.

“United States aircraft have just targeted Iranian missile and drone storage locations, as well as coastal radar sites, for violating the Cease Fire Agreement, AGAIN!,” Trump stated on Truth Social.

The U.S. military conducted strikes on multiple Iranian targets after a commercial tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was reportedly hit by a projectile on Saturday.

These attacks mark the latest escalation of tensions between the two nations in recent days, following an interim agreement aimed at halting hostilities in the region.

In response to a drone strike on the Panamanian-flagged tanker M/T Kiku in the strait, U.S. Central Command confirmed that fighter jets targeted 10 Iranian military sites in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker was carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil at the time of the attack.

Trump’s statement emphasized that there may come a point where further military action is necessary to complete what has been started successfully. He warned that if such action is taken, the Islamic Republic of Iran will cease to exist.

The president has made repeated threats to bring Iran back to the “stone age”, with previous statements suggesting the possibility of nuclear war.

In a separate development, Iran claimed to have targeted U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain early Sunday in response to the U.S. strikes on its coastal facilities.

Kuwait’s army reported that its air defenses were engaging with hostile missile and drone attacks, while Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Iranian aggression against its territory as a dangerous escalation.

Despite the ongoing attacks, commercial vessel transits through the critical waterway continue. Oil prices have seen a decline as more tankers have left the Strait of Hormuz, alleviating supply concerns.

As negotiations between the U.S. and Iran for a 60-day ceasefire are ongoing, both sides have accused each other of violating the agreement. Recent military actions by both parties have further strained diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the conflict.

The latest round of attacks follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian aimed at developing a permanent peace deal to resolve the conflict between their nations.
