Costco faces class-action lawsuit alleging protein powder was laced with toxic heavy metals
Costco is currently facing a class-action lawsuit over allegations of selling protein powders that contain high levels of toxic metals. The lawsuit claims that Costco marketed these products as “good clean fuel” without disclosing the presence of arsenic, cadmium, and lead, which can have harmful effects on health.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court for the Western District of Washington, accuses Costco of violating state laws and engaging in unfair trade practices. The plaintiffs are seeking punitive damages and a court order to force Costco to disclose the heavy metals in the products.
The lawsuit alleges that consumers unknowingly ingested toxic heavy metals by using the protein powders, trusting in Costco’s quality assurance. Costco and Orgain have not yet responded to the allegations.
