Accused Bay Area killer struck again on same street just days later

A Vallejo man, Roberto Alfonso Tamayo-Cazarez, has been accused of two separate shootings on the same street, resulting in one death and one injury. The first incident occurred on May 1, when Tamayo-Cazarez allegedly shot and killed 29-year-old Ceicilia Corsetti near the intersection of Indiana and Sutter streets in Vallejo. Corsetti, an aspiring artist and musician, was described by loved ones as having a “beautiful soul.” Despite a murder warrant being issued on May 6, Tamayo-Cazarez remained free for nearly two weeks.

In the early hours of Tuesday, another shooting took place on the 600 block of Indiana Street, with an adult male sustaining non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Detectives identified Tamayo-Cazarez as the suspect in this second shooting as well. Following a pursuit by police, Tamayo-Cazarez was arrested after attempting to flee on foot in a residential neighborhood.

Tamayo-Cazarez has been charged with murder, firearm violations, and evading officers, with additional charges related to the second shooting still under review. Police Chief Jason Ta commended the coordinated efforts of law enforcement in apprehending the suspect safely.

The motive behind the shootings has not been disclosed by authorities. When asked about Tamayo-Cazarez’s citizenship status, the Vallejo Police Department responded that they do not check for such information. The community continues to mourn the loss of Ceicilia Corsetti and awaits justice for the victims of these senseless acts of violence.
