Aspiring rapper robbed Facebook Marketplace seller, then posted stolen items for resale within 24 hours: prosecutors
18-Year-Old Aspiring Rapper Accused of Robbing Facebook Marketplace Seller
An 18-year-old aspiring rapper, known as “Solo buckzz” in the music industry, is facing serious charges after allegedly robbing a Facebook Marketplace seller of shoes and clothing. Quinten Holmes, the young rapper, was ordered to be detained on a charge of aggravated robbery by Judge Shauna Boliker. This incident marks the second offense for Holmes, as he is currently serving an 18-month probation term for a previous Marketplace rip-off.
The incident took place on December 14 when Holmes arranged to meet a 21-year-old man who was selling gym shoes and clothing through Facebook. The meeting spot was set at the Family Dollar at 100 West 95th Street. According to prosecutors, Holmes inspected the items, then threatened the seller by implying he had a weapon in his pocket, before fleeing with the merchandise.
After the robbery, the victim provided the police with a screenshot of Holmes’ Facebook profile, where the stolen items were listed for resale within 24 hours of the incident. Detectives found incriminating evidence in the form of conversations between Holmes and the victim, as well as photos of Holmes wearing the stolen merchandise. A search warrant on Holmes’ phone further solidified the case, revealing additional evidence of the crime.
This recent incident comes after Holmes pleaded guilty to felony theft for another Marketplace theft in January. In that case, he absconded with an $861 camera during a meetup with a seller. Holmes’ criminal activities on Facebook Marketplace have raised concerns about online transactions and safety measures for sellers.
As the legal proceedings continue, the community is reminded to exercise caution when engaging in online sales and purchases. The case of Quinten Holmes serves as a cautionary tale about the risks involved in virtual transactions.
