Ben Stiller, Mike Judge Team for Apple TV Comedy Series

Ben Stiller and Mike Judge are teaming up to develop a new comedy series for Apple TV. The show, currently titled “Protective Custody,” will feature Stiller as a disgraced financier accused of massive fraud who is placed in protective custody. In this new environment, he must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation, and come to terms with the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial.

Judge, known for his work on “Silicon Valley” and “King of the Hill,” is co-writing the series with Steve Hely and Dave King. All three will serve as executive producers and co-showrunners, with Judge also taking on directing duties. Stiller will not only star in the series but also executive produce through his production company, Red Hour. The show will also be produced by John Lesher, Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Michael Rotenberg, Oly Obst, and Nanette Burstein.

If “Protective Custody” is picked up for a full series, it will mark Stiller’s second starring role on Apple TV, following his involvement in “The Off Weeks.” Stiller is also an executive producer on the successful series “Severance” and has other projects in the pipeline, including the documentary “Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost” and the upcoming feature comedy “The Dink.”

Hely, King, and Judge are currently collaborating on the Adult Swim series “Common Side Effects,” which is gearing up for its second season after a successful first run in 2025.

Stiller is represented by WME, ID, and Sloane Offer, while Judge is represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morris Yorn. King is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis, and Hely is represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

Overall, the collaboration between Stiller and Judge on “Protective Custody” promises to deliver a unique and entertaining comedy series for viewers to enjoy on Apple TV. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new project.
