Bowen Yang to Miss Oct. 18 Episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’

Bowen Yang to Miss “Saturday Night Live” Taping for Academy Museum’s Vantage Award

Bowen Yang, known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” will be absent from the Oct. 18 taping of the popular sketch comedy show. However, his absence was preplanned as he is set to accept the Academy Museum’s Vantage Award, which recognizes emerging artists who challenge and recontextualize dominant narratives in TV and film. Despite missing the live show, Yang was still involved in writing tonight’s episode and will make an appearance in a pre-taped sketch.

Yang took to his Instagram stories to share the news of his one-night departure from “SNL,” expressing excitement for the show and praising guest host Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter, a talented singer and actress, will be pulling double duty as host and musical guest for the evening. This will be Carpenter’s hosting debut on the show, having previously appeared as a musical guest during the Season 49 finale hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal.

The Season 51 lineup of “Saturday Night Live” has already seen a variety of hosts and musical guests, including Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and Amy Poehler. Upcoming episodes will feature Miles Teller hosting for the second time on Nov. 26, as well as newcomers Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell hosting on Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, respectively.

Fans can catch “Saturday Night Live” every Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC or stream it on Peacock. The show, created and executive produced by Lorne Michaels, continues to be a staple in the world of comedy and entertainment.

Stay tuned for more laughs, sketches, and memorable moments on “Saturday Night Live” as the season progresses.
