Boy, 15, slashes teen in face in burst of violence in NYC high school: cops

A violent incident unfolded at a Bronx high school on Monday when a 15-year-old boy slashed another teen in the face, according to police reports. The attack occurred around 12:50 p.m. inside William H. Taft High School on East 172nd Street near Sheridan Avenue in Mount Eden. The victim, also 15, was rushed to Harlem Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The teenage attacker was apprehended at the scene and now faces charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment. The motive behind the violent outburst remains unclear as authorities continue to investigate the incident.

This disturbing incident comes on the heels of another school-related violence in the Bronx just over a month ago. On March 2, an 11-year-old girl reportedly stabbed a 12-year-old boy inside IS 218 in the Concourse neighborhood. The altercation was said to have stemmed from a past incident between the two students, leading to the girl wielding a knife and injuring the boy in the left arm. The young girl was also taken into custody following the incident.

These incidents highlight the importance of school safety and the need for effective measures to prevent such acts of violence among students. School authorities and law enforcement agencies must work together to create a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
