Boyfriend accused of killing pregnant teen, baby battles for life
A tragic incident unfolded in San Diego over the weekend, as a pregnant teenager was shot and killed by her boyfriend while on a family vacation. The 17-year-old victim, who was visiting from Arizona, was around 32 weeks pregnant when the horrifying event occurred.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning and found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the head. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section in a desperate attempt to save the baby.
While the newborn remains in critical condition, the mother tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Trevon Williams, had allegedly traveled separately from Arizona to meet with the victim outside the short-term rental in Bay Park where she was staying with family.
After shooting his pregnant girlfriend, Williams fled into a nearby canyon, but police were able to locate and apprehend him around 3 a.m. with a semi-automatic handgun. He was taken into custody without incident and now faces murder charges, being booked into the San Diego County Jail.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help and support in abusive relationships. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
