More than half of the population views the current job market unfavorably, marking a noticeable decline from six months ago when opinions were more mixed. This negative sentiment is partly fueled by uncertainties about future job prospects.
When assessing long-term trends in the job market, the general consensus is that the availability of good jobs has decreased. This perception is shared across different demographic groups, indicating a prevailing sense of stagnation in job growth.
Amidst discussions on the impact of AI on various industries, a prevailing skepticism exists regarding its effect on job availability. Many believe that AI will have a negative influence on job prospects in the coming decade, further contributing to economic concerns.

This article is based on a CBS News/YouGov survey conducted with a nationally representative sample of 2,489 U.S. adults between September 30 and October 2, 2025. The margin of error for the survey is ±2.2 points.
