Chicago man charged with robbing delivery drivers while AWOL from gun case
A 19-Year-Old Chicago Man Faces Charges for Robbing Food Delivery Drivers at Gunpoint
A 19-year-old Chicago man, Treshon Redmond, is currently facing charges for robbing two food delivery drivers at gunpoint. What makes this case even more alarming is that Redmond was already a wanted man at the time of the alleged robberies. Court records show that he had disappeared from a pending felony gun case just weeks before the first reported robbery.
Redmond is now facing two counts of armed robbery and one count of felony theft. The Chicago Police Department (CPD) stated that he pointed firearms at delivery drivers to steal their food and cash. In addition, he is accused of walking off with an entire cash register from a taco restaurant.
According to court documents, Redmond failed to appear at a hearing in his gun case on February 11. During the hearing, it was revealed that he had not checked in with the court officer since being released from custody in November. Despite being ordered to report monthly, Redmond had not complied, leading to an arrest warrant being issued by Judge John Lyke.
Despite being a wanted man, Redmond allegedly continued his criminal activities. On March 5, he reportedly held up a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint and on March 5, he stole cash and seafood from another delivery driver. However, CPD was unaware of his involvement in these crimes until his arrest on March 12 during a domestic altercation.
After being brought before Judge Lyke on March 19, Redmond was released again with orders to check in with the court officer. However, on April 29, he allegedly stole a cash register from Lucido’s Tacos and fled the scene. It wasn’t until May 5 that CPD detectives connected Redmond to the robberies and cash register theft, leading to his detention on the new charges.
Despite the dropping of the initial gun case, Redmond now faces serious charges for his alleged crimes. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of diligence in tracking and apprehending wanted individuals to prevent further criminal activity.
