Cinco de Mayo: A Celebration of History and Flavor with a Brownstone Twist
Happy Cinco de Mayo! At Brownstone Worldwide, we love any occasion that brings our community together to celebrate culture, resilience, and, of course, incredible flavor. Today, we’re diving into the true story behind the holiday and sharing a recipe that adds a unique Brownstone spark to your table.

More Than Just a Party: The History
Commonly mistaken for Mexican Independence Day (which is actually in September), Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It was a classic “David vs. Goliath” moment where an outnumbered Mexican army defeated the powerhouse French forces. This victory became a symbol of strength and unity: values we hold dear here in our neighborhood.

A Brownstone Twist: Turmeric Jerk Chicken Street Tacos
To celebrate, we’re fusion-cooking! We’ve taken our signature Brownstone Turmeric Jerk blend: available through the Brownstone Marketplace: to create a taco that is as vibrant as the holiday itself.

Ingredients:
- Chicken thighs (boneless/skinless)
- Brownstone Turmeric Jerk blend
- Fresh lime juice
- Corn tortillas
- Fresh cilantro, diced white onion, and sliced avocado

Instructions:
- Marinate: Coat the chicken generously in the Turmeric Jerk blend and a splash of lime juice. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to soak up that earthy flavor.
- Sear: Grill or sear in a hot skillet until charred and cooked through. The turmeric gives it a stunning golden glow.
- Assemble: Slice the chicken and serve on warm corn tortillas. Top with cilantro, onion, and a slice of avocado.
