Class-Action Settlements to Claim Now, From Google to Tinder
Spring is the perfect time to not only clean out your closet but also to check if you’re eligible for any class-action settlement payouts. Google Android Data Settlement:
A settlement in Joseph Taylor, et al. v. Google has made as many as 100 million Android customers eligible for small payments. The lawsuit alleged that Google misused users’ cellular data for unwanted background transfers. Google agreed to a $135 million settlement, with a final approval hearing scheduled for June 23. If you are an Android user after Nov. 12, 2017, you may be eligible. Customers have until the deadline to choose a payment method.
LastPass Breach Settlement:
LastPass, the popular password manager, settled for nearly $25 million after a 2022 data breach. U.S. customers affected by the incident may be eligible to submit claims. Victims of identity theft or cryptocurrency losses related to the breach may qualify for higher payouts. Notifications about the settlement were sent out in March, and eligible users have until July 2 to submit claims.
Tinder Settlement:
Tinder recently settled a class-action lawsuit for $60.5 million, denying allegations of improper charging practices. The settlement applies to certain California customers who purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold after March 2, 2015. The deadline to make a payment selection is Aug. 18, 2026.
Tom’s Toothpaste Settlement:
If you purchased Tom’s of Maine natural-branded toothpaste between Nov. 21, 2020, and March 6 of this year, you could be eligible for a refund under a lawsuit alleging deceptive business practices. The settlement amount is $2.9 million, and more information can be found at toothpastesettlement.com.
State Farm Settlement:
State Farm settled lawsuits in New Mexico and Arkansas under multi-million dollar agreements. New Mexico customers with “U coverage” for auto insurance can submit claims for part of a $20.9 million settlement. In Arkansas, State Farm agreed to a $15.6 million car insurance settlement pending approval.
