Company Retreat’ Emmys Submissions Include Sia

Amazon’s Emmy Strategy for “Company Retreat”

As the Emmy season approaches, Amazon Prime Video is gearing up for a strong campaign for its hit series “Company Retreat.” The second season of the reality hoax show, created by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, has been submitted across 19 categories for Emmy consideration.

The show follows the unsuspecting Anthony Norman, who believes he has been hired as a temporary worker at Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce for the annual company retreat. Little does he know, every participant around him is a professional actor, setting the stage for hilarious and unexpected interactions.

Despite the show’s success, Norman will face the same eligibility limitation as Season 1’s Ronald Gladden, as he is considered ineligible for lead acting consideration under the Television Academy rules. However, the rest of the cast is ready to make their mark in this year’s Emmy race.

The ensemble cast includes standout performances from Alex Bonifer as Dougie Jr., Jim Woods as the enthusiastic Jimmy, and LaNisa Renee Frederick, whose deadpan comic timing shines throughout the season. Additionally, Grammy winner Sia makes a guest appearance, portraying an exaggerated version of herself in a bid for her first acting nomination.

A highlight of the awards campaign is Episode 207, “Mergers and Acquisitions,” where Norman finally learns the truth about his colleagues. This episode will be the official submission for both directing, represented by Jake Szymanski, and writing, represented by Anthony King.

The full list of Emmy submissions for “Company Retreat” includes categories such as outstanding comedy series, supporting actor and actress races, guest acting categories, directing, writing, production design, casting, cinematography, costumes, editing, makeup, music composition, sound editing, sound mixing, and stunt coordination.

With a strong showing in its first season and a promising second season under its belt, “Company Retreat” is poised to make a splash at this year’s Emmy Awards. The Emmy timeline kicks off with nomination-round voting in June, followed by nominations in July. Will “Company Retreat” be the dark horse of this year’s Emmy race? Only time will tell.
