Cops’ chilling warning for a bloody summer as vile hooligans make more than 90 street takeovers already this year

The rise of violent street takeovers in Los Angeles has become a major concern for law enforcement officials. The illegal gatherings, which involve reckless driving, robberies, rapes, shootings, and other criminal activities, have been on the rise in recent years. With the warmer weather approaching, police anticipate that the situation will only worsen.

Since the beginning of 2026, Los Angeles police have responded to over 90 street takeovers, resulting in numerous arrests and the impounding of race cars. In a disturbing trend, incidents of violence at these gatherings have also increased, with multiple shootings reported at recent events.

One particularly alarming incident occurred in Rosemead, where four people were shot during a takeover, including two teenagers. Despite law enforcement’s efforts to intervene, the perpetrators managed to escape. Similar incidents have been reported in other parts of the city, highlighting the growing threat posed by these gatherings.

The LAPD’s Street Racing Task Force has been working diligently to address the issue, cracking down on illegal takeovers and making arrests. Last year alone, the task force dealt with over 600 takeovers, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen vehicles and firearms.

According to Sgt. Jesse Garcia, the leader of the task force, many of the participants in these takeovers are affiliated with street gangs or criminal organizations. Some of the car clubs involved have been linked to activities such as car theft, drug trafficking, and gun running. The gatherings often attract individuals from different states, creating a regional network of criminal activity.

In response to the escalating violence, law enforcement officials have stepped up their efforts to dismantle these gatherings. Unmarked squad cars and helicopters are used to surprise and apprehend suspects, while increased patrols have been implemented in areas prone to takeovers.

One high-profile case currently underway involves Erick Romero Quintana, who is facing multiple charges related to his alleged involvement in organizing takeovers. Prosecutors claim that Quintana used social media to coordinate these events, resulting in a tragic incident where a woman was killed by a car during a takeover.

As the summer months approach, authorities are bracing for an increase in street takeovers and are committed to preventing further violence and criminal activity. Through coordinated efforts and increased enforcement, they hope to stem the tide of these dangerous gatherings and protect the community from harm.
