Woman Opens Fire on Group Outside Irving Park Bar, Injures Four

During the early hours of April 12, a shocking incident unfolded outside Marinero Bar in Irving Park. A woman, identified as 27-year-old Isathtia Perez, indiscriminately fired shots at a group of individuals attempting to enter the bar, resulting in injuries to three men and causing another to be hospitalized with a knee injury sustained while trying to evade the gunfire.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, but it was revealed that Perez, who is licensed to own firearms, does not possess a concealed carry license.

The victims, part of a group seeking entry into the bar after closing hours, were targeted by Perez as they gathered outside the establishment located at 2916 West Irving Park Road. Surveillance footage captured a grey Honda Odyssey with noticeable damage to its front right fender circling the area before coming to a stop on Richmond Street. Perez exited the minivan, fired multiple shots at the crowd, and then fled the scene in the vehicle.

A total of 14 9mm shell casings were recovered by the police at the scene, matching the caliber of a handgun registered to Perez. The injured individuals, including a critically wounded 37-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Witnesses described the shooter as a heavyset Hispanic woman, and further investigation led authorities to identify Perez as the suspect. License plate reader technology and surveillance footage traced the Odyssey back to Perez’s residence on North Keeler Avenue in Humboldt Park.

Isathtia Perez now faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, possession of a weapon, and discharge of a firearm towards an occupied vehicle. She has been detained pending further legal proceedings.
