Details of California plastic surgeon’s deadly ‘tummy tuck’ revealed
A tragic incident has rocked the medical community in California, as former plastic surgeon Sarwa Aldoori was found dead in a backyard swimming pool last week. Aldoori, 71, had already lost her medical license after a botched tummy tuck procedure resulted in the death of a patient just one day after the cosmetic surgery.
The Kern County Coroner identified Aldoori after her body was discovered at a home in Bakersfield. The circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation, with the cause and manner of her passing pending.
The shocking turn of events comes more than two years after California regulators permanently revoked Aldoori’s medical license. This action was taken after she refused to participate in a court-ordered probation program related to the death of a 43-year-old woman who underwent a tummy tuck procedure performed by Aldoori.
The patient sought a consultation with Aldoori and her husband, Dr. Yakdan Alqaisi, at their plastic surgery practice in northeast Bakersfield. Aldoori conducted the surgery while Alqaisi served as the anesthesiologist. Tragically, the woman was found unconscious and without a pulse the day after the surgery and was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital.
The Kern County Coroner determined that the woman died from a fat embolism caused by the surgery, with adult respiratory distress syndrome listed as a contributing factor. State regulators had previously alleged that Aldoori did not have sufficient training to perform the tummy tuck procedure.
Despite spending approximately 35 years practicing as an OB-GYN, Aldoori’s troubles began after accusations were filed in 2021 over the fatal surgery. Initially placed on a seven-year probation, Aldoori ultimately had her license revoked after failing to comply with the terms of the probation program.
Authorities have not ruled out foul play in Aldoori’s death, and the investigation is ongoing. The medical community is left reeling from this tragic turn of events, as the once-respected surgeon’s career has ended in controversy and tragedy.
