Fans Will Be Surprised By Malcolm in the Middle Reboot
Frankie Muniz Teases Surprising Reboot of “Malcolm in the Middle”
Frankie Muniz recently hinted that the upcoming reboot of the beloved sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” may not be what fans are expecting. During a podcast appearance on the “Lightweights” show, Muniz shared that long-time fans might be in for a surprise when they see where the Wilkerson family has been for the past 20 years.
“I think people will be surprised, in a sense, where everybody is and the story,” Muniz said. “It’s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff into four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with.”
Muniz expressed his excitement about returning to the show, describing his experience filming the reboot as “the best time of my entire life.” He mentioned that he hasn’t spoken to the cast since wrapping up filming in May but plans to reach out to them soon.
The original “Malcolm in the Middle” aired for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, with a total of 151 episodes. The reboot will see Muniz reuniting with original cast members Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson, and Justin Berfield.
While Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey, did not return for the reboot, the role was taken over by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. New cast members include Kiana Madeira, Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae, and Keeley Karsten.
Bryan Cranston expressed his joy at reprising his role as Hal Wilkerson, stating that he missed the character and loved being back with the cast. The official logline for the reboot reveals that Malcolm and his daughter are pulled back into the family chaos for Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary party.
