Florida duo gloated about killing off-duty firefighter Christopher Randazzo for his phone, sneakers in front of resort: witness

Two suspects are currently on trial for the brutal murder of off-duty Florida firefighter Christopher Randazzo, who was killed for his Nike sneakers and iPhone in 2019. Torrey Holston, 26, and Jose Garcia Romero, 27, are facing charges of murder and robbery in connection with the heinous crime.

A witness, Cheyenne Papach, delivered a chilling testimony in court, recounting how the two suspects showed no remorse for their actions and even boasted about the murder moments after it occurred. Papach, who was with the suspects on the night of the murder, revealed that Holston and Garcia Romero bragged about robbing Randazzo and showed off the stolen items, including the victim’s locked iPhone.

After realizing they needed the password to unlock the phone, the group returned to the scene of the crime where they found Randazzo lying on the ground. Papach witnessed Holston and Garcia Romero yelling at the victim for the password before Holston fatally shot Randazzo.

According to court records, Holston allegedly exclaimed, “I think I got him,” after the shooting and bragged about “catching a body.” He even referred to the gun he used as “my military weapon” and discussed robbing and shooting Randazzo in front of the witnesses.

Randazzo was found stripped of his belongings, including his sneakers, iPhone, wallet, and car keys. The victim, who was a firefighter and paramedic with the Coral Springs-631 Parkland Fire Department, had only been on the job for seven months before his tragic death.

If convicted, both Holston and Garcia Romero could face life in prison without the possibility of parole. The trial continues as prosecutors seek justice for the senseless killing of Christopher Randazzo.
