Florida man Stephen Bowen admitted to killing wife Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen with shotgun
The tragic murder of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen has shocked the community, with her husband Stephen Bowen confessing to the brutal killing to his uncle. The details of the crime are chilling, with Bowen using a pillow case as a silencer as he shot his wife three times with a shotgun inside their home.
After the horrific act, Bowen wrapped his wife’s body in blankets and a garbage bag, leaving it in a bedroom while he slept downstairs. The next morning, he fled to his uncle’s house, where he admitted to the murder and asked his uncle to hold onto a gun bag for him.
When questioned about why he killed his wife, Bowen simply stated that he “couldn’t take it anymore.” The day before the murder, he had told his mother that he had a panic attack at work and needed to talk to his wife that night.
In the aftermath of the crime, Bowen pretended not to know where his wife was when her concerned colleagues reached out to inquire about her absence from a meeting. City Hall staffers, including Coral Springs Commission Relationship Manager Luwam Ghermay, tried to reach Nancy, but Bowen replied that she was not picking up and her car was not at home.
Eventually, police were called to the couple’s home and discovered the gruesome crime scene. Bowen was later found at an apartment complex in Plantation, handing off the gun bag and ammo boxes to a friend who was unaware of the murder. Bowen was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and felony evidence tampering and is currently being held without bond.
Nancy Metayer Bowen was a respected figure in the community and was on the verge of announcing her candidacy for Congress before her untimely death. Her loss has left a void in the political landscape of Florida, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
