Google Home Display could be a Gemini-powered Smart Screen
Google seems to be expanding its reach with a new smart display in the works, possibly as part of its Gemini AI assistant’s global domination mission. The Gemini AI assistant has been making its way onto various devices, including Google Nest products, with Gemini for Home now available on a wide range of devices.
While we are eagerly anticipating the launch of the Google Home Speaker, set to debut in spring 2026, recent hints in the code suggest that another device, the Google Home Display, may also be on the horizon. Aaron, an analyst at MacRumors, discovered references to the Google Home Display in the list of devices within the Google Home app for iOS. This new device aligns with the branding of the upcoming Google Home Speaker.
Google’s last smart display, the Nest Hub (gen 2), was released in 2021, making the potential launch of the Google Home Display a significant advancement in Google’s smart screen offerings. Google Home Chief Product Officer Anish Kattukaran previously mentioned that a smart display is the “ultimate form factor” to deliver a superior home experience, indicating that Google is likely working on a new model to enhance user experiences.
While Google may not be reinventing the smart display category, improvements are expected, with Gemini AI likely playing a central role in the new device. It is speculated that the Google Home Display may introduce exclusive features not available on older Nest Hub devices running Gemini.
With Google’s I/O developer conference scheduled to begin on May 19th, there is a possibility of more information being revealed about the Google Home Display and a potential release date for the new smart speaker. Stay tuned for updates on Google’s latest innovations in the smart home space.
