Google Pixel Watch 5 LTE Model Listing Explained

The Pixel Watch 5 is on its way, with leaks confirming its existence and now its submission to the FCC. The upcoming flagship smartwatch has been spotted under multiple model numbers, all listed as wireless devices with LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity options.

Despite some confusion surrounding the presence of LTE on all models, it is likely that all Pixel Watch 5 variants will come with the same internals, with the 4G capabilities being disabled at the firmware level. This decision may have been made to streamline manufacturing processes and maintain consistency across the lineup.

One interesting point of note is that the Pixel Watch 5 will not be upgraded to 5G, unlike some of its competitors like the Apple Watch Series 11. This decision could be attributed to the rising costs of tech components, making the upgrade to 5G less feasible for the target market. The focus may be on offering a more affordable option to maintain profit margins.

The Pixel Watch 5 is expected to launch in August, alongside the Pixel 11 phones. Samsung is also gearing up to unveil its Galaxy Watch 9 series, including the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, at an Unpacked event in July. With both companies vying for consumer attention in the smartwatch market, it will be interesting to see how these new releases stack up against each other in terms of features and pricing.
