Gunman fires at least 16 shots, injures 2 on Far North Side
Two Men Injured in Daytime Shooting on Far North Side
Yesterday afternoon, a violent attack on the Far North Side left two men seriously wounded after they were shot in broad daylight.
At approximately 3:25 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 6300 block of North Claremont Avenue. The victims, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were standing on the sidewalk when an unidentified gunman opened fire, striking both men multiple times.
The older victim sustained gunshot wounds to his back and left shoulder and was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition. The 24-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and also taken to the same hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.
Law enforcement officials found at least 16 shell casings at the scene, believed to have been discharged from a rifle. Witnesses reported that the shooter fled the scene in a white Acura SUV with rear-end damage. Descriptions of the assailant varied, and as of Wednesday evening, no arrests had been made.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Since its inception, our coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side neighborhoods. Despite this growth, our core mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with in-depth context and detail that surpasses mainstream media outlets.
