Harry Potter Studio Builds School for Child Actors on HBO Series
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is gearing up to be the production home for HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” television series. According to a report by the BBC, the studio is currently in the process of constructing a temporary school to accommodate the show’s young actors and ensure they can continue their studies while filming.
The Three Rivers District Council has granted permission for the studio to utilize portable buildings as a school facility for the next ten years. These classrooms have been specifically designed to cater to up to 600 pupils during peak periods, such as when large crowd scenes are being shot. However, on average, they are expected to serve around 150 students. The school will operate on weekdays from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm, allowing the young actors to balance their academic studies with night shoots, reshoots, and location filming.
Although the planning documents did not explicitly mention “Harry Potter,” they did reference a “significant new TV series” that will be based at the studio for the next eight to ten years. The BBC also noted that the school infrastructure will be in place for a maximum of ten years.
HBO, the network behind the upcoming series, has been tight-lipped about further details. Variety reached out to HBO for additional comments, but no response has been received as of yet.
The casting process for “Harry Potter” was no small feat, with a staggering 32,000 children auditioning for the lead roles after an open casting call. The young actors who have secured roles in the series, such as Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, Arabella Stanton, Lox Pratt, Alessia Leoni, Leo Earley, Rory Wilmot, and Amos Kitson, will need to balance their filming schedules with their education.
Fans can expect the “Harry Potter” series to premiere on HBO and HBO Max in 2027, marking a new chapter in the beloved wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling. Stay tuned for more updates on this magical production as it continues to unfold.
