‘I Messed Up’: Dramatic Audio Captures Moment Truck, Plane Collided

Shocking audio recordings captured the moments leading up to and immediately following a tragic incident at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday night. An arriving Air Canada plane collided with a fire truck that was responding to a different emergency, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and copilot.

The audio includes the communication between air traffic control and the fire truck, which was crossing the runway to reach a United plane that had reported an issue. However, as the truck entered the runway, the Air Canada plane was landing.

“Truck one, stop there please,” the tower urgently instructed. “Stop stop stop!”

The controller then directed the plane to abort the landing and go around to avoid the collision with the vehicle on the runway.

After the crash, the controller reassured the plane, “JAZZ 646, I see you collided with the vehicle. Just hold position. I know you can’t move. Vehicles are responding to you now.”

Following the incident, the airport had to close operations, with one voice remarking, “That wasn’t good to watch.”

The Air Canada Express CRJ-900 was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members from Montreal, with 41 people hospitalized, nine in serious condition. The aftermath of the crash led to the cancellation of nearly 600 flights in and out of LaGuardia by midday Monday.
